On March 14th 2022, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) placed stricter security requirements on all UK retailers and payment providers in line with the European Banking Authority (EBA).
High-value purchases, or those outside a buyer’s regular spending habits or transacted on a previously unused device, are likely to prompt the extra security check this is operational in both the UK and EU.
These extra security checks could require shoppers buying items online to input a password, a pin or a one-time passcode they have been sent via a text or log in to their banking app and approve the purchase.
Please note that MORI cannot override such security measures as the payment provider will authorise the payment.
